Purpose of 21st Century Schooling System Summit

“The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically.
Intelligence plus character- that is the goal of true education”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

The purpose of “The 21st Century Schooling System Summit” is to gather Educationist, Industrialist, Policy Makers and Media to discuss where our education system is standing right now, what are the problems and flaws, where we want to go, and what are the best possible options to bring reform in our current education system.

Our current Education System is mostly based on rote learning, where students get the grades based on how much they have memorized instead of what they have learnt conceptually and logically. Students are judged based on their grades instead of their creativity and ability to think out of the box. Our current education system isn’t able to product technology literate and that’s the reason that, most of the innovations comes from developed countries instead of developing countries. The current education system is failing to produce innovators and leaders and this needs to be changed, in order to accelerate the technological and economical development of Pakistan.

The purpose of Education System must be to develop the following 21st Century Skills Set among students,

1) Research 2) Problem Solving 3) Communication 4) Collaboration 5) Creativity 6) Critical Thinking 7) Self Learning 8) Moral and Ethical values

According to World Economic Forum’s Global Human Capital Report 2017, Pakistan is at the 125th spot out of 130, in a list that ranks countries on the basis of how well they perform in the education and skills development and infrastructure. Human capital is defined as the knowledge and skills people possess that enable them to create value in the global economic system.

The agenda of this Summit is to discuss solutions to bring reform in our education system, by resolving the lacking below:

  1. Lack of a communication/bond between Teachers and Students
  2. The culture of Rote Learning
  3. Treating students as “Machines”
  4. Not Upgrading with the pace of 21st century
  5. Standardized testing and Industrial model of learning
  6. Absence of Career Counseling for the students
  7. Not preparing students for the real world challenges
  8. Teacher’s training and using latest methods/tools for teaching
  9. Lack of attention on teaching ethical/moral values
  10. Lack of awareness about latest tools to increase productivity of schools (E-learning, Latest Apps etc)

Why Schools should participate?

We understand that technology is growing rapidly, and as a school administrator it is difficult to catch up at this speed. Therefore we are gathering qualified people from different sectors to demonstrate how we can improve our current education system. From esteemed educations to solution providers, there will be many people demonstrating their projects related to education so schools will be getting all the details at one place and will be able to take the decision based on different point of views.

It is the start of journey to improve overall education system from teaching methodology to deployment of 21st century latest tools in schools.

We are pleased to invite all the schools management and senior faculty to participate and work together for the betterment of Pakistan.
